So, in the last post I mentioned I wasn't feeling well and my photography skills were being diminished...remember? Anyway. I had made an appointment to go back to the doctor just to check things out so that I wouldn't end up with pneumonia again.
Despite the fact that I...
- had been out of work from Wednesday till the next Tuesday. Yep, seven whole days off
- went to an exhaustive and physical work training session, passed the tests and requalified (wasn't the greatest score, but I passed)
-and worked my regular day for the week
It wasn't enough. Well, the training and work days sure didn't help. But I went to see the PA who has been familiar with me, since I rarely actually ever go to the doctor so I must be very ill to do so. Based on my symptoms and recent history of pneumonia, we decided to do chest x-rays again. X-rays revealed that I, once again, had acquired pneumonia. Really?...really. This time I will also get a chest CT scan done. Next week. It wasn't approved the first time I had pneumonia, but hopefully the insurance company will approve it this go round since it is recurring.
In other health news: a close friend of mine's little baby girl is in the hospital with RSV. Sending them hugs and prayers.
Some good news: my builder was able to get zone approval and permits for my sewing/craft studio space. Construction should start next week.
Hoping for quick healing. The weather is getting warmer and I want to do stuff outside again. And so that my son's t-ball games aren't so cold. It seems the weather has been uncooperative when it is his teams turn to play.

Mr. Robot-O
In the spirit of Celebrate the Boy, I created a new outfit for my son. We had this cute robot fabric at home, can never remember who the designer is or where I bought it, but I have seen it at Joann's and Wal-mart...(?). I did find some cute, colorful, tiny block fabric at Wal-mart (definitely sure I got it there, because it was a recent trip). Now I knew what to do with the robots.
I apologize for the not-so-greatness of the photos but I haven't been feeling well lately, so my skills and abilities have been somewhat diminished, not that they were great to begin with.

For more information on how to add interior pockets I sort of used this tutorial from here.
I didn't follow her instructions exactly, but I figured it out and it came with fairly good results for the first try. And, now I have an interior pants pocket pattern for later projects. Don't you love those green gingham shorts Emily used in her tutorial. I loved them so much I went out and bought green gingham. It's not exactly the same green, but it will work.
Construction update: I have signed a contract with builder and they should be starting next week as long as the permits get approved. Woohoo! I might actually have a place to store and work on projects now. Just hoping they stay in budget, I don't have a lot of wiggle room.
Cut out the ones I wanted and adhered them to a plain white shirt for an applique robot shirt.
Ack! Cute!
I did something a little different with these shorts. I added interior pockets, and a robot section of fabric for a back pocket. I also added a sneaky robot to the back bottom part of the shirt. Careful, he is watching you from behind.

All About Boy
Have you seen the Celebrate The Boy series' by Dana and Rae? Currently their home pages have boy projects. The links in the names go to their archived series', which I'm sure they will add the most current stuff later.
Boy, Oh Boy!! The most adorable stuff and ideas for a boy are all together on their pages. And perfect timing, too. I've been working on projects for a lady at church who recently had a baby boy and I wanted to make some stuff for him.

Projects with Photos...WooHoo!!
So, I got down to business this morning and put together the photos of my projects I have completed recently.
Yes!!
The latest creation: Cowgirl outfit
Cute boot applique with a Market skirt. The boot pic came from a web search (google or yahoo) for appliques and I selected this one from a variety of pictures scaled to the dimension I needed. I used Heat n Bond to attach the image to the shirt, and the black accent pieces to the boot, used a scrap piece of white fabric on the inside so that I could use a tight zig-zag stitch to attach the applique to the shirt more securely.
Ahh! The last photo is just too cute. Stop the cuteness!
We don't have cowgirl boots to go with the outfit. She only has brown boots, and these were the only black shoes she has.
Still works.

3 toddler backpacks, three pairs of pajama pants, and 1 butterfly wall hanging. (Some of the butterflies are turned the wrong way, but it looks super cute on my girl's bedroom wall.) My son loves his pajama pants. The first pair are super heroes. My hubs has a pair that he wears to bed and our son wanted a pair. I bought a men's small, which were on clearance, and used the existing legs to make my son his very own. He was so happy. He also loves the dinosaurs and the Superman ones as well. I made the super heroes pants a little longer so he would have a better chance of wearing them longer as well.
The ruffled pants I made to go with last years Pillowcase dress. Super adorable on her.

A Fix
So, I cleaned out my Picasa Web Album. Instead of being 99% full it is 18% full. Hmm. Now I can get back to posting photos with my projects. Also noticed that if I combine my photos in a Word document and save it as grouping that the size of the photos is very low. Duly noted Google and Picasa. :)

Lame-O
That's me. Lame. I haven't completed much in blog world. Seriously need to get on that. Gotta clean out my picasa album so I can get back to attaching photos here. I have been doing work though. Well, not work-work, but "work". You know, the fun stuff. Sewing.
I made my daughter a new toddler backpack for daycare. Her other one was falling apart.
I also made one for a co-worker/friend's daughter. Turned out super cute.
I finished a pillowcase dress for my sister's friend.
I finished my son's two pairs of pajama pants. He loves them.
And I made a pair of ruffle pants for my daughter to go with a pillowcase dress she wore last year. The dress is now a top, but the matching pants are totally adorable. Using the same material I am also working on another toddler backpack for her, to take to church.
*sigh*
So need my studio built.
I would have provided photos, but my album is full. I'm getting to it, I promise.

New Year, New Start
I am determined that this year will start off better than the last one ended. I have at least one goal made, a few more I want to make, but I just haven't made them specific enough to actually be able to meet those goals. I'm working on it. I have projects in mind, just a few, that need to get done, and a whole bunch I would love to be able to do. The major thing that is stopping me is space. I do not have an adequate, warm, all mine, creative space. I just need a contractor who can work with me, get back to me, answer my questions, and actually build my craft studio. I'm ready, but all in good time I guess. Maybe there is something better coming down the road, or something that will require my attention and possibly saved up finances? Hoping for good things though. I will remain patient, or at least try to.
I'm also struggling with a decision. I knew there was some sort of limit on the saved up space photos used in blogs can take up, what I didn't count on was using up said space so quickly. I love having a space to show all of my work that is just for that work, and provide explanations and others things in life that don't have any other outlet. It's my memory keeper for the everyday things. I can use Facebook to a point, but it's not the same as creating an entire post around one subject/project that you can easily refer back to for cute memories of those subjects/projects. This is like my creative scrapbook, online, in one location...and now my photo limit is met. What to do? I can increase my limit, but that means making monthly payments to an entity that is trying to make money for the company and shareholders. That's fine for them, but that's not the goal of my blog...to make money for me, for an entity, or pay for the opportunity to blog. For now I will painstakingly find the photos in my picasa album that were not used in a blog and delete them to create more free space. Might even have to edit some posts to remove photos as well.
In other news...I am starting to feel better. By the time Christmas came around I could feel the change in me. The pain was getting better and I was healing. Hopefully the follow-up appointment will bring good news. It's nice to notice when you are actually feeling better. I've been planning and thinking and making lists again. Now I just need to get to work on that. For that, a space to do so would be nice. Have I mentioned I am in need of a contractor?
